Elementary? Or High School? For the longest time the H-BC elementary was grades preschool through 6th grade. Two years ago that changed, the 6th grade class moved to the high school because there wasn’t enough room at the elementary for all of the classes. I thought it would be a good idea to interview some of the 6th grade kids and ask them what they like better. I interviewed two boys and two girls. The two boys I interviewed were Luke Fuerstenberg and Alexander Harris. The two girls were Laura Roelfs and Tyrae Goodface. There are many things to like about the elementary school and many things to like about the High school and this is what the kids thought. They agreed that the elementary was a fun place to be because of the recess and the ability to be a role models for younger students. However the high school has its perks too! Getting more food at lunch, seeing older siblings during the day and more freedom are the reason the 6th graders like being at the high school. Just like every other school there are things that the students don’t enjoy. Some students said that there was nothing that they didn’t like at the elementary and the high school. The others thought that they were treated like babies, that you have to sit in your classroom all day, and it’s not as fun as the high school. The students said they didn’t like having to eat last in the high school, they didn’t like the high school because you don’t get to go outside for recess. I always wondered what school was better. I had an idea of what I liked better but was still wondering what other people thought. All of them said they would like to be at the high school because there is a lot more stuff to do. I asked them for the differences between the high school and the elementary. All of the students said the difference was you went outside for recess and there was no a play ground.. Most people like being older classmen but the six graders thought that it really didn’t matter if they were younger or an older classmen. The last thing I was curious about was little buddies. When I was younger and at the elementary in sixth grade we had the opportunity to be big buddies and being a big buddy means that you get to spend time with the kindergartners. The students said that they didn’t want them because they had the little buddies when they were in fifth grade. I had a great time interviewing these kids. I have wondered how the class has changed since I was in sixth grade to now. I think that it was a good change for the sixth graders to move to the high school. |
